Yohance Barton
YHNCE is a Caribbean American photographer based in Flatbush, Brooklyn. With an eye for capturing life's most riveting moments, he employs a stimulating photographic style and animated photoshop editing techniques. Yohance's journey as a photographer began in 2010 at MS. 51's photo program in Park Slope, where he discovered his passion for film photography and photoshop collaging.
Fast forward to today, and Yohance has developed a unique style of photography that is easily identifiable by its seamless overlays, blinding reds, deeply saturated hues, and intentionally composed collages that flow from one photo to another without an identifiable start to the image.
Yohance's subjects range from hip-hop portraits and live underground hip-hop and punk shows to streetwear fashion, wildlife, culture, and more. His work always tells a layered story that invigorates the viewer while also leaving them with a sense of nostalgia, as if they've missed out on something.
The goal of Yohance's work is to pull the viewer into the moment captured by the photo and allow them to experience it firsthand. He values the viewer's attention and, through his unique approach to photography, aims to create images that engage their minds and spark their curiosity, inviting them to question the various elements that compose each image.
