Linda Hiwot
Ms Hiwot's canvas paintings and hand drawn prints are frequently collaged and constructed. She is noted for her use of color, shape and composition, and she has developed a personal idiom.
Grace Glueck of the New York Times said: "...so infused with key magical witchery, Latin-american style, is Ms. Hiwot's work that it can easily illustrate the great Garcia-Marquez novel 'One Hundred Years of Solitude.' In her hands clouds assume portentous shape; trees and plants take on dimension of Gods and spirit, a rough road of shack dwellings might lead to a spiritual xanadu.
Ms Hiwot, though not new to the exhibition scene, retains a welcome fresh voice..."
